Agreement to these terms

By using ConnecZen ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. If you answer a request link without an account, these terms cover what you send through that link.

What ConnecZen is

ConnecZen is a family book made of voice recordings. You record what your family knows (recipes, rituals, stories, advice, blessings, where the important papers are kept) and it's kept in a family book, which the app also calls a space. There are two kinds:

Personal books, which only you can see
Shared family books, which every member of that family book can see

Each recording is turned into text by a speech-to-text model. AI models then give it a short English title and pull out structured items such as recipe cards and cooking tips. You can also send a request link that asks one person one question, and they can answer without an account. The Service runs as a web app.

Who can use it

You can create an account with an email address and password (we send a link to confirm the address) or with your Google account. You need to be 18 or older to have an account. By using the Service you agree to:

Give accurate account information and keep your login to yourself
Use the Service for personal and family purposes, not commercial ones
Only record people who know they're being recorded and are fine with it
Only put something in a shared family book if you're comfortable with every member hearing it
Not try to break into, overload, or disrupt the Service, or reach data that isn't yours

Shared family books

Every member of a shared family book can see and play every recording in it, along with the titles and items made from those recordings. Think of it as handing the recording to the whole group.

People join a shared family book through an invite link that an admin makes for one person. The link works once and expires after 7 days. Whoever opens it signs in or creates an account and joins as a member, so send it only to the person it's for.

A family book's admins are the person who made it and anyone they make an admin. Admins can rename or delete any recording in the family book, remove members, and change who is an admin. You can rename or delete your own recordings. The person who made the family book always stays an admin and can't be removed.

Any other member can leave at any time. Recordings you made stay in the family book after you leave or are removed, so the rest of the family keeps them. If you want one gone, delete it before you leave or ask an admin to. We aren't responsible for what other members do with recordings they can hear, such as playing them for someone else.

Request links

A request is a link that asks one person one question. You'll usually send it yourself over WhatsApp or another messaging app. Anyone who has the link can open it, so send it only to the person you're asking.

The person can answer by voice or in writing, without an account.
They can skip the question and, if they want, say why. The person who asked sees the reason.
For 30 days after answering, they can re-record the answer or add an update.
A request nobody answers expires after 14 days. The person who sent it can also withdraw it.

Answers are saved in the family book the request came from and are credited to the name on the request. If the request went to a member of that family book and they answer while signed in to their own account, the answer is credited to their account instead.

If you send a request, you're responsible for sending it to the right person and for them being fine with their answer being kept in your family book. If you answer one, you're agreeing that your answer can be kept there and heard by the family book's members.

Your recordings

You own them

What you record or write stays yours. You give us permission to store it, transcribe it, run it through the AI models described in the Privacy Policy, and show it to the people who can see the family book it's in. We use that permission only to run the Service.

What not to record

Don't use the Service for anything illegal, harassing, threatening, or hateful, or for content you don't have the right to share. We may remove content or close accounts that break these rules.

Household information is a good fit (which drawer the papers are in, who to call about the boiler). Passwords, bank and card numbers, and government ID numbers are not. The Service isn't built to hold secrets like those, so please keep them out of your recordings.

AI output can be wrong

Transcripts, English titles, and recipe cards are written by machines. They can mishear words, drop steps, get quantities wrong, or translate badly, especially for languages other than English. The original recording is the source to trust. Check anything that matters before you rely on it, and take extra care with allergies, medicines, and health. Nothing in the Service is medical, legal, or financial advice.

Services we rely on

The Service runs on Supabase, Vercel, and Railway, uses OpenAI and Google for speech-to-text and AI processing, and lets you sign in with Google. The Privacy Policy says what each one does. Their own terms apply to their part, and we aren't responsible for their actions or outages.

Availability and changes

ConnecZen is new and still changing. We try to keep it running but can't promise it will always be available. We may change, pause, or remove features at any time, and we'll try to tell you about big changes ahead of time. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CONNECZEN AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ConnecZen and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, the content you add to it, or your breach of these Terms.

Closing your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time from Settings or by email. The Data Deletion page explains what gets deleted, including what happens to your recordings in shared family books. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page, and we'll tell you about material changes. If you keep using the Service after a change, you're accepting the new Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
